Providing housing for Rice University graduate students, the complex will offer 137 units, with one-bedroom efficiencies, one-bedroom/one-bath, two-bedroom/one-bath and two-bedroom/two-bath floor plans. Energy conservation plans for the structure include Energy Star appliances, energy efficient lighting systems and a foundation made with 20 percent fly ash in lieu of Portland cement. Conveniently located near public transportation systems, the building will offer amenities such as a lobby, offices, TV room, laundry room and interior storage for up to 100 bicycles. The complex is scheduled for completion February 2009. |
