FORNEY, TX - Glen Perkins, executive vice president and managing director of development and acquisitions for PM Realty Group (PMRG), a national, full-service commercial real estate firm, today announced plans to develop the first large-scale, comprehensive medical complex in Forney, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Construction on Forney Medical Plaza begins this summer.
 Designed by GSR Andrade Architects and McCalla Rios Architects, and funded by Century Bank, the development plans encompass the following: a full-service, acute-care hospital; a medical office building; an ambulatory surgery center; and a diagnostic center.
The first 7.2-acres acquired are located 20 miles east of Dallas in Forney’s City Plaza on Broad Street near State Highway 80. An additional 6.6 acres is under contract for future expansion.
The project consists of three buildings to be constructed in three phases: Phase one is the 54,000-square-foot medical office building; phase two is the 12,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and diagnostic center; and phase three is the 60-bed hospital. Phase one is slated for completion in summer of 2008.
“Forney Medical Plaza will represent the community’s highest concentration of medical facilities and healthcare services in one location,” Perkins said.
The development is a joint venture between 18 specialists and primary care physicians, and an affiliate of PMRG. Forney Medical Plaza’s confirmed tenants include numerous local physician partners, including Dr. Wesley Wilson and Dr. Les Sandknop.
“This new project will allow us to provide seven days-a-week healthcare with an immediate access to specialists and services that Forney has not had in the past,” said Dr. Wesley Wilson. “We are committed to growing with Forney in all phases of this exciting project.”
Known for its antique stores and small town appeal, Forney is one of the fastest growing communities in the Dallas area. Located in Kaufman County, Forney’s population has increased by more than more than 30 percent since 2000, and projections show the community growing an additional 30 percent during the next five years. Kaufman County’s population is expected to triple as planned home developments are built out over the next 20 years.
